Coming Attractions

2006-09-05 22:29:25 EST - (scharfschutze)
A review for Homeworld Cataclysm is on the way, as is the long-overdue completion of the review for Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe. I'm also working on getting more tips uploaded.

2005-10-17 01:41:34 EST - (scharfschutze)
We're currently working on getting as many screenshots as we can for the games we've already reviewed. We don't currently have any plans for putting screenshots of PS2 games up, simply because the mechanics of getting good shots via digital cameras against a TV screen are too annoying. Sorry for any... "inconvience"... this might cause.

A new year

February 08, 2007 @ 09:31 PST by (eraser)
Well we have survived another year, awesome.

At last - HOMEWORLD

September 06, 2006 @ 08:28 PST by (scharfschutze)
For all those who thought I was lying --- I WASN'T. The review for Homeworld has finally been completed and is available for your viewing pleasure. Please enjoy this review, because it was very difficult to get all my thoughts about this wonderful game into one review.

Special thanks to eraser for the FABULOUS screenshots.

Homeworld - SOON

July 05, 2006 @ 09:16 PST by (scharfschutze)
After overcoming several unexpected projects at school, I am hard at work finishing up the long-anticipated (and long-announced) review for Homeworld, and am attempting to coordinate with eraser with regards to the Cataclysm review and screenshots for both. As soon as all is done, they'll be posted here for your viewing pleasure.

June Update

June 09, 2006 @ 20:00 PST by (scharfschutze)
Just updating this page to let viewers know that, despite the lack of movement, the site is not dead at all. In fact, I'm hard at work writing both a Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm review. I'll be uploading them at the same time, probably in the next week or so. The big issue right now is eraser and I pooling our hundreds of screenshots to come up with a few good ones for a review. Please be patient, and please enjoy yourselves :)

A Toast to eraser

April 25, 2006 @ 04:34 PST by (scharfschutze)
Thanks to round-the-clock work by eraser, we have completely recovered from the server mishap, and everything works just the way it should. We here at Marksman all take our hats off to you, eraser. Bravo.

Downtime

April 24, 2006 @ 03:44 PST by (eraser)
After a little quirk followed by a server move we are back online, enjoy. :)

Hearts of Iron II

March 30, 2006 @ 09:17 PST by (scharfschutze)
The review for Hearts of Iron II has now been posted. Sorry it took so long, but I unfortunately have a life outside of Marksman that requires my attention at least some of the time.

March Update

March 21, 2006 @ 08:20 PST by (scharfschutze)
I know it's progressing slowly here at Marksman Gaming, but work does proceed on a number of reviews. Whenever schoolwork allows, I'm busily jotting down thoughts that will eventually go into a Homeworld review.

In the meantime, I have announced another Marksman Gaming Proposal, this one regarding StarCraft II - a game idea that was unfortunately never fully pursued by Blizzard Entertainment. I'm hoping our forum community can, at least in spirit, pick up the slack. Please discuss it on the forums here. The original Marksman Gaming Proposal was one for Day of Defeat: Source, a game that held such promise, yet was tragically butchered by the developers at Valve. You can read that thread here.

Back in Business

March 03, 2006 @ 11:48 PST by (scharfschutze)
After much trial, I (scharfschutze) have managed to replace my broken-down laptop. This means that the production of reviews is once again back on schedule. Please look forward to reviews on Homeworld, Hearts of Iron II, Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe, and Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath in the near future.

Spore, can 'ya dig it?

March 03, 2006 @ 07:03 PST by (eraser)
If you have not heard of Spore yet, I suggest you crawl out from under your rock and pay attention. Spore combines elements of Sim City, The Sims, Civilization and other RTS/Strategy games. The idea is that you control a life form's evolution, a small tribe of life forms, civilizations of life forms, and eventually, whole planets of life forms. You start out with control of bacteria sized life and slowly evolve and develop your creature, striving towards your unique idea of perfection.

I suggest you all watch Will Wright's demo and presentation on Spore then come and discuss Spore in the forum!

A little slow, but...

February 24, 2006 @ 06:40 PST by (scharfschutze)
Although it appears that Marksman Gaming has been abandoned, I want to assure you that nothing is further from the truth. However, it must be said that the staff and I have lives (sort of), lives which are requiring more and more of us. That makes it a little hard to do our work here on Marksman. However, as can be seen in the Coming Events section, a review for Hearts of Iron II is well underway, and preliminary work has begun on the long-anticipated Homeworld review. Please bear with us, and enjoy the reviews we have up already!

Major Review Updates

January 09, 2006 @ 05:39 PST by (scharfschutze)
The reviews for StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War have been edited to contain screenshots, as well as serving as testbeds for our new Perfect Ten Seal of Approval.
