Just back from a trip to Europe. School's in full swing, so reviews will not be coming as quickly as I'd like, but that's the shape of things. Still plugging away at a review for Ghost Recon.

Just a little comment we received from our email:

As said in the above subject line, this site is the shiznit. That's right, the SHIZNIT. What that means, je ne sais pas. Anywho, ummmm the layout is tres bien, easy to navigate and tres sexy. If layout can be sexy...The reviews seem thorough but how would I know, I don't understand half of the things you're talking about. Scratch that, 75%. Put more pretty visuals on. They make things great for us visual types. Yes, and this is a completely unbiased comment. Not like I have any familial connections or whatever. 'Nuff said.

My last comment: post this. I want to be immortal. On the very insubstantial internet. Yeah, what? I can be contradictory! Got a problem? I didn't think so.

I love you Davy and Owy. So cute.

Oh, and hello Bow Island Boy.

Yeah, I'm done.

Or am I?...

(Marksman talking here) Thanks, dearie.

Unfortunately, Inverse forums has gone off the web. We here at Marksman both rue and lament this sad situation. However, in the interests of keeping people sane, we've removed the Forums links from our reviews. You can, of course, feel free to make comments directly through our contacts e-mail.

Well, a load of time with nothing to do has given eraser a stroke of genius, and for the past week, he's been hard at work on creating an all-new scheme for Marksman. Users can look forward to many, many improvements in the way this site runs, including all-new menus, updated Contact information and even adjustable colour schemes! We're also working on a new symbol for the site (I've been told the old one, while nice, resembles Microsoft's logo for the Xbox, so we're changing it - nobody here wants to get sued!), so anybody with a suggestion is more than welcome to put it in the Contact box, and we'll take everyone's ideas into account.

2005-08-28 15:43:17 - (eraser)
Well a huge update has just been finished. A whole new backend system which will make it significantly more efficient for use to run and all you folks to use.

A new overall design and new colour schemes.

Another big change is we have a new forum up so use it!

Talk about the new site here.

Game night, this weekend!
2005-12-01 21:32:07 - (eraser)
We are playing Rise of Nations Saturday and/or Sunday from 21:00 PST (22:00 MST, 24:00 EST) onwards.

If you miss the first game hang around for the others.

Meet up in the forum.

If at least two people show up we'll do one or two games.

If only two people show up we'll do one or two games and play again the next day, hopefully with the people that missed out. At least I will.

Remember to take screenshots!

A little slow, but...
2006-02-23 20:40:08 - (scharfschutze)
Although it appears that Marksman Gaming has been abandoned, I want to assure you that nothing is further from the truth. However, it must be said that the staff and I have lives (sort of), lives which are requiring more and more of us. That makes it a little hard to do our work here on Marksman. However, as can be seen in the Coming Events section, a review for Hearts of Iron II is well underway, and preliminary work has begun on the long-anticipated Homeworld review. Please bear with us, and enjoy the reviews we have up already!

Spore, can 'ya dig it?
2006-03-02 21:03:51 - (eraser)
If you have not heard of Spore yet, I suggest you crawl out from under your rock and pay attention. Spore combines elements of Sim City, The Sims, Civilization and other RTS/Strategy games. The idea is that you control a life form's evolution, a small tribe of life forms, civilizations of life forms, and eventually, whole planets of life forms. You start out with control of bacteria sized life and slowly evolve and develop your creature, striving towards your unique idea of perfection.

I suggest you all watch Will Wright's demo and presentation on Spore then come and discuss Spore in the forum!

Back in Business
2006-03-03 01:48:42 - (scharfschutze)
After much trial, I (scharfschutze) have managed to replace my broken-down laptop. This means that the production of reviews is once again back on schedule. Please look forward to reviews on Homeworld, Hearts of Iron II, Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe, and Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath in the near future.

March Update
2006-03-20 22:20:17 - (scharfschutze)
I know it's progressing slowly here at Marksman Gaming, but work does proceed on a number of reviews. Whenever schoolwork allows, I'm busily jotting down thoughts that will eventually go into a Homeworld review.

In the meantime, I have announced another Marksman Gaming Proposal, this one regarding StarCraft II - a game idea that was unfortunately never fully pursued by Blizzard Entertainment. I'm hoping our forum community can, at least in spirit, pick up the slack. Please discuss it on the forums here. The original Marksman Gaming Proposal was one for Day of Defeat: Source, a game that held such promise, yet was tragically butchered by the developers at Valve. You can read that thread here.

Hearts of Iron II
2006-03-29 23:17:05 - (scharfschutze)

A Toast to eraser
2006-04-24 18:34:42 - (scharfschutze)
Thanks to round-the-clock work by eraser, we have completely recovered from the server mishap, and everything works just the way it should. We here at Marksman all take our hats off to you, eraser. Bravo.

June Update
2006-06-09 10:00:27 - (scharfschutze)
Just updating this page to let viewers know that, despite the lack of movement, the site is not dead at all. In fact, I'm hard at work writing both a Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm review. I'll be uploading them at the same time, probably in the next week or so. The big issue right now is eraser and I pooling our hundreds of screenshots to come up with a few good ones for a review. Please be patient, and please enjoy yourselves :)

Homeworld - SOON
2006-07-04 23:16:46 - (scharfschutze)
After overcoming several unexpected projects at school, I am hard at work finishing up the long-anticipated (and long-announced) review for Homeworld, and am attempting to coordinate with eraser with regards to the Cataclysm review and screenshots for both. As soon as all is done, they'll be posted here for your viewing pleasure.

At last - HOMEWORLD
2006-09-05 22:28:17 - (scharfschutze)
For all those who thought I was lying --- I WASN'T. The review for Homeworld has finally been completed and is available for your viewing pleasure. Please enjoy this review, because it was very difficult to get all my thoughts about this wonderful game into one review.

Special thanks to eraser for the FABULOUS screenshots.

A new year
